Crystalfix Mr Crystal is a 4kg do-it-yourself concrete repair kit that seals leaking tanks and troughs by growing insoluble crystals inside the concrete itself. It suits farm water tanks, stock troughs, pools, pits, ponds and cellars where the concrete is cracked or porous but still structurally sound.
Key features
- 4kg kit treats about 18 metres of crack or 40 square metres of porous surface, roughly one 45,000 litre tank or 5 average troughs
- Mix the powder with water to a paintable slurry and brush it over the crack, or dry shake it over wet concrete for porous areas
- Migrates up to 400mm into the concrete and keeps repairing as the structure moves, reactivating whenever water is present
- Wall cracks can be treated from the outside while the tank is full; floor cracks need the tank emptied

Suitable for

- Concrete only: it uses the existing concrete as part of its chemistry, so it will not work on poly, steel or fibreglass tanks
- Structures with basic structural integrity. Badly rusted reinforcing or large cracks may need extra work, see the manufacturer's directions booklet
How to use
- Clean the area thoroughly and wet it immediately before applying
- Mix about 1kg of powder to 375ml of clean water to a thick, paintable slurry. Mix only what you can use in 10 to 15 minutes
- Brush a 50 to 60mm wide strip over the crack, then a second coat once the first goes tacky, building to about 6mm
- Keep the repair damp for the first 36 hours. Refilling the tank is usually enough
- Apply between 10°C and 25°C. Crystalfix is alkaline, so wear gloves and eye protection
